Cathy is a seasoned entrepreneur and communications strategist with a deep passion for helping women reach their full potential. She brings a powerful blend of experience, initiative and heart to everything she does.
Cathy launched her career in Toronto, building her expertise at leading nonprofits and global PR agencies. As Founder and President of Cowan & Company Communications, she spent nearly two decades leading award-winning integrated marketing communications campaigns for some of Canada’s most iconic brands including L’Oréal Paris, Jamieson Vitamins, Kraft and Food Banks Canada.
Driven by a desire to create meaningful change, Cathy recently applied her expertise as head of communications at the Canadian Mental Health Association York Region where she spearheaded high-impact strategies that successfully elevated the organization’s voice, engagement and reach.
Today, Cathy works as an independent marketing communications consultant, partnering with purpose-driven organizations and nonprofits to amplify their impact.
A committed advocate for women’s empowerment, she proudly serves as Vice President of Lean In Canada, and contributes her expertise on the Board of Advisors for the Women’s Nonprofit Network and the Board of Directors for the Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment.
